Illustration Friday - Homage

I recently saw Into The Arms of Strangers: Stories of the Kindertransport. I have never heard of the Kindertransport before. It is a documentary about the children that were put on trains in their Nazi occupied countries and sent to Great Britain during the holocaust. Their parents sent them away in order to save their lives, but most of the kids never saw their parents again. It made an impression on me so I did these doodles for this week's topic Homage. I may not have gotten the clothing right, but I remember them wearing similar things in the film.

I love that you have drawn something so historic. I, too, have watched something about this subject as well. You have done a fantastic job.

I love that documentary. It really moved me, as I hadn't known about the kindertransport before watching the movie, and it was such a sad time in our history. Your illustrations perfectly capture the mood and feeling and innocence of the children. And your work is so beautiful. I am very impressed!
